Extended Access

Signing up for Extended Access provides you self service access to designated library locations outside of staffed open hours. It adds more opportunities to use the library to work, study, check out items, and more when it works best for you.

At this time, Extended Access is only available at the Jordan Library, but may expand to other SCL locations in the future. The service provides access to the Jordan Library from 6:00am to 10:00pm, seven days a week.

Note: Customers who want to use meeting rooms outside of staffed hours in Belle Plaine, Elko New Market, Jordan, New Prague, and Shakopee do not need sign up for Extended Access. Visit our Meeting Rooms page for reservations.

How It Works

Customers scan their library card number and enter their PIN at an entry panel to unlock the Jordan Library. Click here for a brief video demonstration. Once inside, they can use in-library resources and self service equipment such as the self checkout machines, computers, printers, copiers, and study rooms.

Who Can Sign Up

All Scott County Library cardholders ages 16 and older can now sign up for Extended Access in Jordan. Teens ages 16 and 17 must bring a parent with them to sign up.
