Description

This project includes the installation of a traffic control signal at the intersection of CH 15 and CH 16 as well as road widening to accommodate the construction of a raised median on CH 15 through the intersection with CH 16.

Purpose & Justification

Ongoing development in the area has resulted in an increase in vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the intersection. A portion of the pedestrian traffic is generated by residents living west of CH 15 walking to an elementary school and high school located east of the intersection.

Additionally, there is an overrepresentation of right-angle crashes since the extension of CH 16 west of CH 15 opened in 2018. A traffic study was performed, and a traffic control signal was determined the appropriate intersection control to improve safety and operations at the intersection.
