Who can get a vaccine in Scott County right now?
Updated: 4/14/21 at 12:30pm
As of March 30, all Minnesotans ages 16 and older are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Scott County Public Health is eager to help all Scott County residents access the vaccine. To ensure the process is fair, equitable, and compliant with state guidelines, we have the following protocols in place:
We are vaccinating individuals 18 and older at this time. While the Governor's order includes ages 16 and older, Scott County is currently administering the Moderna vaccine, which is only approved for ages 18 and older. We are unable to administer the Moderna vaccine to youth under 18.
How can 16- and 17-year-olds in Scott County get vaccinated?
At this time, we recommend that Scott County families seeking to vaccinate teenagers contact their healthcare providers about the Pfizer vaccine, which is approved for ages 16 and older. The Minnesota Vaccine Connector is also useful tool to get notified of statewide clinics administering the Pfizer vaccine. We are monitoring for opportunities to obtain the Pfizer vaccine.
I have a preference for a specific vaccine. How will I know which one you're administering at a First Dose clinic?
We are displaying which vaccine is being administered at the clinic on the First Dose Appointments tab, and during registration. Please check each clinic carefully. Our supply is determined by vaccine availability from MDH.
Scott County Public Health is prioritizing Scott County residents. To ensure Scott County residents have fair access to vaccine appointments, we are posting separate signup links on our Public Health website for clinics: links exclusive to Scott County residents and workers, and links for eligible Minnesotans that live outside of Scott County. These links will be labeled very clearly. We will monitor these links, and reserve the right to remove any non-Scott County resident who registers on a Scott County resident-specific clinic or a clinic reserved for community partners. Non-residents will be turned away at clinics reserved for Scott County residents.
Unauthorized link sharing creates access barriers for vulnerable Minnesotans, reinforces inequalities, and disrupts the process. We encourage visitors to examine sources and check our website before signing up on any link.
We are responsible for providing second doses to our first dose recipients. We are currently providing second doses for individuals who received a first dose from Scott County Public Health due to vaccine availability. When feasible, we will serve Scott County residents who received a first dose out of state. We encourage residents in this situation to contact our Hotline at 952-818-3730.
Upcoming First Dose Clinics
*If you are seeking a second dose, please visit the Second Dose Appointments tab.
DISCLAIMER: We are monitoring registrations closely. We reserve the right to remove any non-Scott County resident who registers on a Scott County resident-specific clinic or a clinic reserved for community partners. Non-residents will be turned away at clinics reserved for Scott County residents.

Clinic Locations & Accessibility
Most of our clinics will be hosted at the Canterbury Park Expo Building in Shakopee and Knights of Columbus Hall in New Prague. Accessibility accommodations are being planned for in both locations.
Future Clinics
We thank you for your patience as we respond to COVID-19 vaccine supply and demand. There are many factors at the state and federal level that influence our ability to plan clinics in advance. Rest assured, our Public Health staff work around the clock to plan clinics, sometimes on a week's notice. More open clinics will be added soon.
We know this process is difficult and confusing, but we are committed to keeping Scott County residents safe and informed. Learn more about vaccine distribution in Minnesota.
Upcoming Second Dose Clinics
How long should I wait between doses?
Scott County Public Health is administering the Moderna vaccine, which requires a 24-32 day period between doses. We will provide you information about signing up for a second dose at your first dose clinic. If you received the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine, you will not need a second dose. We are not providing the Pfizer vaccine and cannot provide a second dose to Pfizer recipients.
If I received my first dose from Scott County Public Health (SCPH), how do I sign up for my second dose?
We expect clients to self-register for their second dose using our open registration links after their first clinic. Here's what to do:
1. Check your vaccine card to confirm the date you received your first dose from us.
2. Visit the "Upcoming Second Dose Clinics" link above to find open second dose clinics.
3. Select a clinic that occurs within the appropriate timeframe (24-32 days after your first dose)
EXAMPLE: If you received your first dose from SCPH on April 1, you should sign up for a second dose clinic scheduled on or after April 25.
UPDATED 3/25/21: I received my first dose from a different provider in Minnesota than Scott County Public Health. Can I come to one of your second dose clinics?
No. At this time, we cannot serve anyone who received a first dose from a provider other than SCPH due to vaccine availability. If you did not attend one of our first dose clinics, do not sign up for a second dose with us. Your first dose provider is accounting for your second dose and will have supply for you to return. Scott County residents who received their first dose out of state may call the Hotline for assistance: 952-818-3730.

Why isn't Scott County posting more vaccine clinics in advance?
Our ability to plan and post clinics in advance is based on the number vaccines we receive from the state. When we receive this information, our Public Health staff work around the clock to plan clinics. We will post clinics in advance as much as we can.
How are vaccines allocated in Minnesota?
Each week, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) determines the allocations of vaccine dosages for local public health agencies, including Scott County Public Health. Learn more about vaccine distribution in Minnesota.
