Scott County was the fastest-growing county in Minnesota and one of the fastest growing counties in the United States during the 2000s and 2010s. From 2010 to 2015, the County’s population increased by 9 percent. In 2016, the County’s estimated population was 142,436.
The Twin Cities metropolitan area (shown in green on the map) is expected to continue growing in the future. Scott County is projected to reach a population of 199,520 residents by 2040. With growth comes a multitude of issues, which local officials must manage in order to maintain the desirability of Scott County communities.
