Program & Service Options for Seniors

The Scott County Government Center is open for business; however most staff continue to work remotely most days of the week. We remain committed to serving our citizens to every extent possible. Alternative Care (AC) Program

The Alternative Care (AC) Program is for people over the age of 65, with low income and assets, who are not eligible for Medical Assistance. This program provides financial assistance to seniors and/or their families for home care services to help older persons remain in their home.

Elderly Waiver (EW) Program

The Elderly Waiver (EW) Program promotes community living and independence with services and supports that address each person’s individual needs and choice. The Elderly Waiver is for people over the age of 65, who are on Medical Assistance, and have an assessed need for supports and services that will help them avoid or delay institutional care.

Personal Care Assistance (PCA) Program

The Personal Care Assistance (PCA) Program provides services to people who need help with day-to-day activities to allow them be more independent in their own homes. A personal care assistant (PCA) is trained to help with basic daily routines. A PCA may be able to help you if you have a physical, emotional, or mental disability, a chronic illness or an injury.

Home Care Services

Home Care Services provided  by external home care agencies offer assistance with day-to-day activities to people in their home. Services can be used to provide short-term care for people moving from a hospital or nursing home back to their home, or can also be used to provide continuing care to people with ongoing needs.
