All Scott County Library locations have a Friends of the Library group that helps promote and improve library services and facilities by fundraising (via book sales and other events) and advocates for the library.
Funds raised are used for programs and equipment that may be outside of the library budget but enhance library services.
Some past projects that Friends have helped fund include author visits, programs, library artwork, and the Smart Play Spot at the Shakopee Library, a museum-quality installation designed by the Minnesota Children's Museum that encourages early childhood literacy and learning through play.
There is a nominal membership fee to join some Friends groups. If you are interested in becoming a member, please call the branch manager at the library you wish to join.
