Sheriff Luke Hennen announced today the commencement of the Law Enforcement Scholarship Program for 2023. The Minnesota Sheriff’s Association (MSA) Board of Directors has established a scholarship fund awarding up to twenty (20) $2,000 scholarships for this year. These scholarships are due to the coordinated efforts of the 87 Sheriffs of the State of Minnesota.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the members of the MSA recognize the importance of pre-entry training for people considering law enforcement as their career choice, and that some students may need outside help in meeting the costs of such training, even though they excel academically.
“I would like to encourage law enforcement students from Scott County to take advantage of this scholarship opportunity to aid in their education” said Sheriff Luke Hennen.
To qualify, students must have completed at least one year of the two-year program or two years of a four-year program and are only available to students currently enrolled in one of the following three categories:
- Mandated POST Skills Program
- In their second year of a two-year law enforcement program.
- In their third or fourth year of a four-year college criminal justice program.
Students meeting these criteria are invited to obtain a scholarship application form from the Sheriff’s Office customer service window (2nd floor) or online (available September 23rd) at www.mnsheriffs.org (located under “Sheriffs in the Community” > “Scholarships”)
Scholarship awards will be announced by December 29, 2023.
Please submit completed applications and a copy of a transcript from each school attended to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office (or to your local Sheriff’s Office) by November 17, 2023 via mail or in-person to:
