Shakopee resident Aaron Moran was shot and killed in October of 2013. The Shakopee Police Department quickly identified Anthony Cox as the primary suspect. Cox was arrested when he returned to Shakopee. He later confessed.
The Scott County Attorney's Office obtained an indictment against Cox from the grand jury for First Degree Murder. A Scott County jury then convicted Cox of First Degree Murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release.
On August 24, 2016, the Minnesota Supreme Court affirmed his conviction and sentence.
