[ARCHIVED] Slow No Wake In Effect

A Slow No-Wake speed limit of 5 mph will be in effect on McMahon (Carls) Lake for areas within 150 feet of shore once signage is placed at the public Boat Launch. On June 3, 2014 the Scott County Board of Commissioners passed Surface Water Use Ordinance Chapter 30 setting a slow no-wake zone on McMahon Lake to protect the shoreline. The Slow No-Wake speed limit of 5 mph only applies when the lake exceeds an elevation of 965.2 ft NGVD and within 150 feet of shore. This elevation is currently exceeded. Violation of the ordinance is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500. Additional information regarding the ordinance can be found on the County’s website http://www.scottcountymn.gov/ or by calling the County Natural Resources Program at 952-496-8054.

Please help preserve the shoreline by operating your boat at Slow No-Wake speed within 150 feet of shoreline during this period of high water levels. Boat wakes cause damage and erosion along the shoreline.
