RE: Boat Fire on Prior Lake
On June 8th, 2017 at approximately 7:07pm, Scott County Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting of a boat on fire on Prior Lake. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Prior Lake Fire Department and Prior Lake Police Department responded to the scene. A 2008 Runabout owned by a Prior Lake resident was found fully engulfed. Five occupants were able to safely evacuate the boat and were aided by other boaters. Two occupants sustained minor burns and were treated on scene by Allina Ambulance.
The Prior Lake Fire Department battled the fire by boat and from the shoreline near the 16200 block of Lakeside Ave SE. The boat was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No foul play is suspected.
As the summer boating season gets underway, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind boaters to inspect their personal floatation devices and fire extinguishers as emergencies on the water can occur in an instant.
