On July 25th, 2017 at 7:46PM the National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for Northern Scott County. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located just north of Shakopee. Radar detected rotation in this storm. The storm was projected to travel East-southeast into Shakopee then Savage. Outdoor warning sirens were activated in Shakopee and Savage. Our storm spotters were mobilized.
During this severe weather event, no tornado touched ground and no severe winds were detected. Our weather spotters tracked the storm as it passed through the county. We have not received any reports of damage from the storm.
We remind citizens to immediately seek shelter and gather information from television, radio, and internet sources when outdoor warning sirens sound.
