[ARCHIVED] It's time for Autumn Fare!

Aurumn Fare 2017

The Scott County Agricultural Society's Fifth Annual Autumn Fare is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2017.  Mark your calendars for this fabulous free event!

The Scott County Ag Society will be hosting a delicious Farmer's Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m.  Additional food vendors will be available throughout the day.

The event will feature its always successful pie contest and pie auction.  This year, it will feature apple, pumpkin, and "any other" category.  Please plan to enter for a chance to win cash and ribbon awards! Autumn Fare 2017 will also be holding its second wool fleece contest and auction, one of only two such events held in the state.  Local wool producers, please bring your best fleeces to show and sell.

The Belle Plaine and Jordan FFA Chapters will be in attendance with the FFA trailer, providing agricultural education and entertainment for everyone, particularly families with children. Friends from "The Landing" in Shakopee will be at Autumn Fare in period costumes of the late 1880s, demonstrating and talking about pioneer life, farming, campfire cooking (Julia's famous cornbread!), and gardening.

There will be demonstrations scheduled on the grounds throughout the day by local artists, local farmers, and the Master Gardeners.  The Scott County Sheriff's Office Mounted Patrol Unit will be demonstrating how they train to perform their duties.  And there will be a Dutch oven demonstration by Tim and Terrance Halloran, too!

Autumn Fare's darling mascot, Doolittle, will be in and around the cattle barn, so don’t forget to stop and see him!  There will be livestock to look at and farmers that you can speak to about the animals.

The Creative Arts Building will be full of vendors, mostly fiber artists, but also wood and a variety of other artists.  There will be many demonstrations going on, some planned, some spontaneous.  You never know what you will see happening in this building!  Wendy Wustenberg will teach you how to make an angel out of wool that you can take home. For additional fun at Autumn Fare you can ride the Ferris Wheel ("Big Eli") and Carousel ("Amee").

There will be locally produced lamb, beef and produce to purchase.  Bring a shopping bag and a cooler and plan to do some shopping at Autumn Fare!

More information on the breakfast, becoming a vendor, and the contests on the Scott County Fair website at www.scottcountyfair.org.  Bring some friends and family to enjoy Autumn Fare at the Scott County Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 7.
