On September 14, 2017, at approximately 3:11 pm, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single car motor vehicle crash near the 13800 block of Zumbro Ave in Jackson Township.
Of the 5 occupants, JaMason Moffett (16) was deceased at the scene. 2 other occupants were critically injured, and 2 sustained lesser injuries. It appears the vehicle was traveling Southbound along Zumbro Ave when it left the road way, hit a field approach driveway and began to overturn. 1 person was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center. 3 persons were transported by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital.
The Shakopee Police Department, Shakopee Fire Department, Allina Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies at the scene. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating.
“It’s
always a tragedy when someone is injured or killed in an accident,” said Scott
County Sheriff Luke Hennen. “But the pain is particularly acute when we
lose one of our young people, taking with them the loss of their future and
their potential, and leaving only grief for those left behind. We can
only pray for the swift and complete recovery of those who are currently
hospitalized, and for some semblance of eventual peace and consolation for the
family and friends of the person who lost their life today.”
