Put your detective skills to work at the Scott County Historical Society by digging into the history of local ghost towns. The SCHS is looking for research help to locate clues related to Scott County ghost towns that are recorded as archaeological alpha sites. (An “alpha site” has usually been recorded based on historic documentation or communication through local informants.) Although some ghost towns no longer exist, most of them have been given new names or still exist in 2018.
Join us in prospecting for information on the initial town, for example, when it was first settled, platted, early businesses, or when it was incorporated. Blondo Consulting will be at the Scott County Historical Society on Thursday, March 15 from 6 – 8 PM to orient volunteers, answer questions, and do research. Further research can be conducted by volunteers anytime the historical society is open.
This project has been financed in part with funds provided by the State of Minnesota from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the Minnesota Historical Society.
