On June 3, 2014, the Scott County Board of Commissioners passed Surface Water Use Ordinance Chapter 30 setting a slow no-wake zone on McMahon Lake to protect the shoreline. The Slow No-Wake speed limit of 5 m.p.h. applies only when the lake exceeds an elevation of 965.2 feet NGVD and within 150 feet of shore. This elevation is currently exceeded. Violation of the ordinance is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500. Additional information regarding the ordinance can be found on the County’s website http://www.scottcountymn.gov/ or by calling the County Natural Resources Program at 952-496-496-8054.
Please help preserve the shoreline by operating your boat at Slow No-Wake speed within 150 feet of shoreline during this period of high water levels. Boat wakes cause damage and erosion along the shoreline.
