Slow-No-Wake

Notice June 12, 2018

A Slow No-Wake speed limit of 5mph will be in effect on McMahon (Carls) Lake for areas within150 feet of shore, signage is in place at the public Boat Launch.  On June 3, 2014 the Scott County Board of Commissioners passed Surface Water Use Ordinance Chapter 30 setting a slow no-wake zone on McMahon Lake to protect the shoreline.  The Slow No-Wake speed limit of 5 mph only applies when the lake exceeds an elevation of 965.2 ft NGVD and within 150 feet of shore.  This elevation is currently exceeded.  Violation of the ordinance is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500.  Additional information regarding the ordinance can be found on the County’s website http://www.scottcountymn.gov/  or by calling the County Natural Resources Program at 952-496-496-8054.

Please help preserve the shoreline by operating your boat at Slow No-Wake speed within 150 feet of shoreline during this period of high water levels.  Boat wakes cause damage and erosion along the shoreline.
