On August 3, 2018, at approximately 8:16 p.m., Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies, Shakopee Police Department and Allina Ambulance responded to a 911 call of a two vehicle crash with injuries at Old brick Yard Road and 130th Street West in Louisville Township.
When first responders arrived, they located a 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Thomas Edward Kreager, age 64, of Shakopee and a 2008 Subaru Impreza, driven by Patrick Vernon Hegseth, age 55, of Hamburg.
The two vehicles were travelling eastbound on 130th Street West from MN Hwy 169 when Hegseth struck Kreager from behind. Kreager was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. Hegseth did not request medical attention.
On August 16, 2018, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office was advised by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office that Mr. Kreager had died due to injuries sustained from this incident.
“There have been multiple fatalities in the past two months involving motorcycles and I would like to remind motorists and motorcyclists alike to take all necessary precautions to avoid these tragic situations,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen. “We are saddened by these tragic stories of fatal motorcycle crashes and our thoughts and condolences go out to Mr. Kreager’s family and friends.”
Alcohol and/or drugs were not contributing factors in this incident.
