[ARCHIVED] Rocks in Roadway - UPDATE

October 29, 2018 (CREDIT RIVER TOWNSHIP) - A suspect has been identified in the October 17, 2018 incident involving rocks in the roadway near the intersection of 217Th Street East and Dakota Avenue in Credit River Township.  This individual is a juvenile whose name cannot be released.


“Thanks to the diligent efforts of our investigators, we have determined who is responsible for these actions,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen.  “We are thankful that there were no injuries resulting from these incidents.”


This case has been forwarded to the Scott County Attorney’s Office for their review and possible charges.

October 18, 2018 (CREDIT RIVER TOWNSHIP) - On October 17, 2018, at approximately 9:11 p.m., Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies were requested to provide extra patrol to the area of 217th Street East near the intersection of Dakota Avenue in Credit River Township in reference to rocks in the roadway.  The rocks were removed by the reporting party.


Shortly thereafter, two additional calls were received by dispatch reporting vehicle damage involving rocks in the roadway at this location. 


At this time, it appears 5 vehicles were involved, 4 of which sustained damage.  There were no injuries stemming from these crashes. 


“We are actively investigating the circumstances around these instances and we are thankful that nobody has been injured as a result,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen. 


This investigation is ongoing.
