Join the Scott County Historical Society for some free winter fun! Snow Snakes is a traditional winter game among the Dakota, Ojibwe, and other American Indian nations.
To play Snow Snakes, a carved and decorated wooden “snake” is taken outside to a frozen icy track. Players fling their snakes down the track, and the one who makes it the furthest is the winner!
Come make and decorate your own snow snake and take it outside to the Stans garden to see how fast it will fly. Afterwards, head inside to the galleries to hear a story. As always, Kids Kraft is free, but they ask that participants register in order to ensure we have enough supplies. Register at https://bit.ly/2DJtjDi or by calling 952-445-0378
Kids Kraft happens at SCHS on the last Saturday of every month. The program introduces young children to museums, promotes literacy, and allows young people to practice “old fashioned” hands on skills.
