Share Your Family Story!

February 16: Shakopee Community Center, 1255 Fuller St S, Shakopee, MN

In partnership with the Scott County Historical Society, the local steering committee, Shakopee Community Center, and Chaska Library, End in Mind is offering an opportunity to record and keep intergenerational stories between family members in Scott and Carver Counties through the Scott County Historical Society’s Speakeasy Oral History trailer.

These interviews should be between an older and a younger family member, including but not limited to: Grandparent and grandchild; parent and child; aunt/uncle and niece/nephew.

Each interview will last approximately 15 minutes. Following the interview, a copy of the audio file will be sent to the participants in addition to being stored in a repository with the Scott and Carver County Historical Societies and pieced together in a micro-podcast of stories for the region.

Not sure what to talk about? Here are a few questions to discuss before-hand to help the flow of conversation.

If you could hold onto one memory from your life forever, what would it be?

If this were our very last conversation, what would you like to say to me?

How has your life been different then you imagined when you were younger?

If you could give any advice to me or my children, what would it be?

What important things have you learned from life?

How do you imagine your death?

Are there any funny stories from your life that you would like to tell me about? What about funny characters you’ve known?

Are there any things you would like to have changed from your life?

Is there anything important that you haven’t told me but want to tell me now?

Is there anything about me that you want to know but haven’t asked?
