On May 6, 2019, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Scott County Dispatch was notified of a dog that was located with apparent gunshot wounds in a ditch near the 27000 block of Church Avenue in Belle Plaine Township.
Upon arrival, the responding deputy located a male German Shepard with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. The Sheriff’s Office was notified this afternoon that the dog died due to the injuries related to this incident.
A nearby neighbor reported seeing a vehicle enter the property, hearing gunshots, and seeing the vehicle leave the property. He described the vehicle as a late 2000s gray pickup truck with a slightly lifted body, “knobby” tires, and red circles around hub caps.
“Cases like this are disturbing,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen. “We are hopeful that, with the public’s help, somebody will come forward with information that can help us locate the person who did this.”
