On May 20, 2019 at 8:47 pm, police and fire were dispatched to a residential fire on the 700 block of Fern Lane in Jackson Township.
Upon arriving, first responders witnessed a single family residence on fire. The fire was contained and extinguished. The fire caused extensive damages to the home.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, with the exception of 3 dogs and 1 cat that were located deceased inside the residence.
It is believed that the fire may have started from a gas stove. Foul play is not suspected.
“Our thoughts are with the family as they recover from the damage to their home and the loss of their beloved pets,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Shakopee Police Department, Shakopee Fire Department, and Allina Health EMS.
