Night to Unite is held annually on the first Tuesday in August. The 2019 event is Tuesday, August 6th, with most neighborhood events being scheduled between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to turn on outside lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with fellow neighbors and public safety personnel. Many neighborhoods plan block events such as ice cream socials, BBQs, lawn games, and similar fun events to bring neighbors together. Neighbors are encouraged to use the evening to discuss issues important to their communities, creating a plan to protect common areas, or coordinating a neighborhood watch program.
“Night to Unite gives us the opportunity to meet with our citizens and discuss ways we can help each other prevent crime in our neighborhoods,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen. “The partnership between law enforcement and community is the key in continuing to make Scott County a great, safe place to live."
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office invites neighborhoods to register for Night to Unite. Registering in advance allows for deputies and public safety personnel to be aware of planned events, which offers the opportunity to attend and meet citizens.
For more information on Night to Unite, please visit our website at www.scottcountymn.gov or register your neighborhood by submitting the online form. If you would like Sheriff's Office personnel to attend your event, please submit the form by July 23rd.
