On Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at 8:57 a.m., Scott County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with officers from the Shakopee Police Department, were dispatched to an unoccupied, partially submerged boat located on the Minnesota River near the Highway 101 bridge.
Witnesses advised they located an unoccupied, partially submerged boat and were unable to locate anyone in the immediate vicinity. A search began immediately with responders from multiple agencies. After removing the boat from the water, it appears that numerous holes had been drilled into the bottom and sides of the boat and it may have been intentionally discarded in the river. Therefore, any search has been suspended pending further information.
At this time, no occupants of the boat have been located.
The incident is still under investigation at this time.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Shakopee Police Department and the Shakopee Fire Department.
