On September 28, 2019, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Scott County Sheriff's Office 911 Dispatch received a report of a missing vulnerable adult from the Renaissance Festival in rural Scott County.

The missing individual is Michael David Bear Grossoehme, 41, of Pine River, Minnesota.  It was reported that Michael was attending the festival with his family and had become separated from them around 3:30 p.m. earlier that day.  He was wearing a white and black camouflage shirt, brown leather arm/wrist costume cuffs, black pants, black shoes, hearing aids, glasses, and carrying a red cell phone at the festival.

Michael is described as being just over five feet tall, with black hair and brown eyes.  He is very friendly, as he likes to shake hands, introduce himself, and give people hugs.  He gravitates towards crowds and enjoys exploring new places.

Since the time of Michael’s initial disappearance, the Sheriff’s Office has received reports of multiple sightings and encounters with an individual matching Michael’s description at various locations.  He was last seen Monday afternoon (09/30/2019) in the area of Uptown in Minneapolis (near Lyndale Avenue and West 26th Street), and had previously been seen in Dinkytown, near the University of Minnesota campus.  Michael may be frequenting the light rail, as he was seen exiting it at a station in downtown Minneapolis on Sunday morning (09/29/2019). Michael may now be wearing a forest green sweatshirt with the words “Chill Jill” on it.  His phone was located in St. Paul on 9/30/2019.

“We are concerned for Michael and so is his family, especially with the cooler overnight temperatures and that he is without his daily medication,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen.  “We are seeking the public’s help in locating him so he can be returned home safely.”

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has received assistance in locating Michael from Minnesota Renaissance Festival Security, Prior Lake Police Department, Mdewakanton Public Safety, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Minnesota State Patrol (helicopter), Minneapolis Police Department, St. Paul Police Department, Metro Transit Police Department, Mall of America Security, University of Minnesota Campus Security, and Minneapolis Skyway Security.

If you have seen Michael Grossoehme, or know his whereabouts, please contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at 952-445-1411.
