[ARCHIVED] Scott County Sheriff’s Office Employee Promotions

Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen is pleased to announce the promotions of new Dispatch Supervisor Kelly Dolan and patrol Sgt. Spencer Autenrieth.  Both employees underwent a challenging and competitive application process that included the submissions of project-based presentations, and leadership assessments.

“The competition for internal promotions is always very tough due to the quality and caliber of our employees,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen.  “Those who emerge successfully from this rigorous process are to be applauded.”

Kelly Dolan was hired as a Dispatcher by the Sheriff’s Office in 2016 and recently served as a Communications Training Officer.  Prior to joining the Sheriff’s Office, she worked security and also served 6 ½ years in the U.S. Army Reserves.  Kelly has taken a multitude of challenging calls during her time as a Dispatcher, including stabbings, drive-by shootings, and large scale disturbances.  She handles herself with calm and grace and says she enjoys the fast-paced environment of emergency dispatching.  Kelly has an Associates of Applied Sciences degree from the Art Institutes International MN where she majored in Baking and Pastry Arts and specialized in wedding cake design.

The 911 Dispatch Center is located at the Law Enforcement Center in Shakopee and serves over 146,000 residents of Scott County.  There are currently 4 full-time supervisors and 19 full-time dispatchers, who take an average of 250,000 calls a year.  In addition to coordinating and dispatching for the 11 townships, they also dispatch for 9 law enforcement agencies, 8 fire departments, 5 ambulance services in Scott County.  They are also responsible for activating the Scott County Warning System.

Spencer Autenrieth was promoted to Sheriff’s Sergeant in the Patrol Unit of the Operations Division of the Sheriff’s Office.  Sgt. Autenrieth started with the Sheriff’s Office in 2006, as a Corrections Officer in the Jail, where he worked for 9 years. He then became a Deputy Sheriff, where he’s spent the majority of the time working boat and snowmobile patrol. Sgt. Autenrieth has been a Field Training Officer in the jail and on the road, and also an instructor (Taser, firearms, youth snowmobile, and youth ATV). Sgt. Autenrieth has a degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement from Rasmussen College and also served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves, with two deployments to Iraq (2004, 2009).  His broad range of skills will be a welcomed asset to the leadership team.

The Sheriff’s Office Patrol Unit is comprised of 17 Sheriff Deputies and 5 Sheriff Sergeants, with special assignments that include Recreational Safety Deputy, Community Engagement Deputy, K9 Deputy, and a Crime Scene Team.  The Patrol Unit is responsible for providing primary law enforcement services for the 24,053 residents of the 11 townships, and assistance to the 7 municipalities 24/7.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate both Dispatch Supervisor Dolan and Sgt. Autenrieth on their promotions and we wish them continued success in the new chapters that lie ahead in their careers.

The Sheriff’s Office is always looking for outstanding people who want to make a difference in their community.  If you are interested in a rewarding career with the Sheriff’s Office, go to our website at and click on Job Postings to learn more about job opportunities.
