Distraction can lead to driver error, and distracted driving is all too common: Nine percent of drivers are talking on phones while driving at any given daylight moment, and texting while driving has become a public safety epidemic. Distracted drivers miss seeing up to 50 percent of what is around them, including pedestrians, bicyclists, traffic signs, and other vehicles. And the statistics are clear: today’s teenage drivers are at greater risk than any other age group. So if anyone, of any age, thinks they can reasonably handle a vehicle while distracted, ask them to watch this short video.
