[ARCHIVED] BREAKING NEWS: CRITICAL INFORMATION FOR SCOTT COUNTY VOTERS.

Breaking News Alert

Today (October 29, 2020), the 8th Circuit Court determined that all ballots in Minnesota must be received by November 3, 2020.  Please read on for more details.

There are three essential pieces of information that are extremely important for those who have not voted yet; the first two, based on this court decision, the other based on incorrect information circulating through the rumor mill.  These issues may affect:

    Voting early in person.

Voting if you have received a ballot by mail, but have not yet submitted it through the mail.

Voting in person on Election Day.

Please read further:

First, out of an abundance of caution, Scott County is strongly encouraging those who haven’t voted yet to consider voting in person – whether through early voting (see information below) or on Election Day, November 3.

In-person absentee locations/hours:

In-person absentee voting runs through November 2.  You can vote in person at the following locations and hours. *Please note – you must be a resident of that city to vote in person at one of the city hall locations. Second, if you have already received and completed a mailed ballot (but have not mailed it yet), please consider using the drop off locations (noted below) before 3 PM on Election Day (November 3) instead of the USPS, as we’ve encountered reports of significant delays in the mail service.  BALLOTS RECEIVED AFTER NOVEMBER 3 WILL NOT BE COUNTED.  Again, this is the recommended advice for those that have not already submitted their ballots -- if you’re concerned about the status of your ballot, please visit https://mnvotes.sos.state.mn.us/AbsenteeBallotStatus.aspx.

Finally, to correct some misinformation floating around the internet and other media, no polling location will be closed on Election Day.  On November 3, people who have chosen to vote in person should go to their regular polling place any time between 7 AM and 8 PM, which can be found here: https://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/.

Please do vote, though – your voices and votes matter!
