On March 16, 2021, Scott County Assessor Michael Thompson provided the Scott County Board of Commissioners some good news for agricultural property taxpayers. One year after successfully appealing an over 19 percent proposed agricultural trend, for the 2021 assessment Thompson successfully appealed a proposed increase to the “Green Acre” rates to the Minnesota Department of Revenue. As a result, the Green Acre rate will remain at $7200 in 2021.
"The Minnesota Department of Revenue was receptive to our concerns about their proposed increase to $7,500, and their review and approval of our request to keep the rate flat from 2020 was both rapid and appreciated,” Thompson noted.
“We’re pleased to have helped save Scott County agricultural taxpayers some of their hard-earned money, especially now,” said Scott County Administrator, a sentiment echoed by the Scott County Commissioners. “And we commend Mr. Thompson for his dedication to fairness and equity in the process.”
