  3. The Sheriff's Office continuously strives to enhance its relationship with the community in an effort to make Scott County a safe and fun place to live and work. To strengthen its partnership with the community, the Sheriff's Office offers a Community Academy once a year to provide participants the ability (through practical application) to gain perspective on the many challenges faced by law enforcement officers.
  4. The six-week program is designed to provide residents insight on the inner working of the Scott County Sheriff's Office. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and live, work or attend school in Scott County. Participants must agree to allow the Sheriff's Office to run a criminal background check to ensure the safety and security of participants, Sheriff's Office personnel and the public. A criminal record does not necessarily disqualify an applicant. In addition, participants should plan to attend all or most of the sessions. Class size is limited.
