2024 Sheriff's Office Community Academy Application

    Classes will be held at the Law Enforcement Center (Sheriff’s Office) in downtown Shakopee on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. 

    Week 1 - Monday, February 5, 2024

    Week 2 - Monday, February 12, 2024

    NO CLASS (President’s Day) - February 19, 2024

    Week 3 - Monday, February 26, 2024

    Week 4 - Monday, March 4, 2024

    Week 5 - Monday March 11, 2024

    Week 6 - Monday, March 18, 2024

    Week 7 – Monday, March 25, 2024

     Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and live, work, or attend school in Scott County. Participants must agree to allow the Scott County Sheriff’s Office to run a criminal background check to ensure the safety and security of all participants, Sheriff’s Office personnel, and the public. Participants are expected to attend all or most of the sessions. Class size is limited.

  10. Criminal Background Check

    I understand a confidential background check will be conducted on all applicants. The Sheriff's Office reserves the right to deny entry to the Academy based on findings during the background check. A criminal record does not necessarily disqualify an applicant. This application must be completed in full to be processed. By submitting this application, affirm that the facts set forth in it are true and complete. I understand that if I am accepted as a participant, any false statements, omissions, or other misrepresentations made by me on this application may result in my immediate dismissal.

  11. Release of Liability

    In consideration of the benefits that I will receive from my participation in the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Community Academy, I do hereby release the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, its employees from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action which I may hereafter have on account of any and all injuries and damage to me or to my property, or my death, arising out of or related to any happening or occurrence while I am participating in the academy. For the same consideration, I agree to forever hold Scott County Sheriff’s Office and said persons harmless from any such liability, claims, demands, actions of causes of action.  The terms hereof shall be in full force and effect during the period of my participation in the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

  12. Photo/Video Release

    I hereby give permission to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office to use photographs or video taken of me to promote and publicize events, programs, activities and/or services associated with or provided by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. I understand that the images may be used in print publications, online publications, presentations, websites, and social media. Furthermore, I understand that no royalty, fee, or other compensation shall become payable to me by reason of such use.
